Rick Jew is a long time Heyer Performance customer - in fact he's likely the longest of Tony's pool of long-term customers. "I've known Tony a very long time." Rick admits. He caught the Porsche bug when he was 18, and just ten years later bought his first Porsche. Most start with a used one, but Rick walked into the dealership and rolled out with a brand new 1980 911 SC.
"At that time, Porsche only gave you a warranty for about twelve months, and after that I went out looking for a mechanic. I met Tony, and I've been following him ever since." Rick's 911 is his first and only Porsche, and Tony is the only mechanic outside of dealer performed warranty service to ever work on the car. In itself, that's pretty unique - the fact that his 911 has only covered 53,000 miles also puts it among the lowest mileage original paint SC's anywhere. The car is pretty stock, "I think we've lowered it, and

that's about it." When asked if he'd ever consider modifying his 911, or look for another one Rick was quick to explain, "I like this particular car, and there's no real reason for me to want a different Porsche. I own several other cars, Mercedes, Lexus, and other things, but the Porsche is my fun car and that's the car if I want to go to Tahoe or on a fun trip, it's what I generally take." On one of his more memorable trips to Tahoe, Rick fondly recalled dicing with a Ferrari all the way up Highway 50 a number of years ago. "I've never gotten up there so quickly, and we didn't get any tickets! There's absolutely no reason for me to get rid of the car, none whatsoever. It has been very reliable for me, and in fact it's taken very little maintenance."
Despite the low mileage, it's not detailed for the Porsche Club show circuit. The original paint has faded a bit on the roof, and Rick and Tony

laughed about how clean it was for the photos above. "I'm usually the only one who washes it." Tony quipped.
Why has he stayed with Tony and Heyer Performance all these years? "As a professional, I'm a CPA and I've been in my own practice for 30 years. The reason people come to me is to do things they don't necessarily understand, and they need someone they can trust. When you don't understand exactly what somebody does, you evaluate the person in front of you. Tony proved himself as someone who could be trusted and I've never looked for anybody else. Tony is great about telling me what was wrong with the car and would fix just that, and he will tell you what has to be done, and why. I even take my Mercedes to Tony for service - he'll work on that as well if you twist his arm."
