Winter is on its way, and hopefully we'll get more rain this year. This could be a mixed blessing if your Boxster or 996 Cabriolet sees the wet stuff with the top up. Both cars have water drains in key areas that keep water out of the passenger compartment. Leaves, pine needles, and other debris tend to find their way to these areas and end up blocking the small drain tubes. When

that happens, your Porsche can take on water. Besides the side effect of smelly carpets, water can accumulate and flood the computer mounted under the driver's seat and cause a host of problems - the most common symptom is not starting. When this happens, you're facing a $2500 repair (or replacement) of the computer. Heyer Performance cleans these drains with any minor or major service,

so the next time you have your oil changed, you could save your computer without even knowing it.
The same goes for the frontal air intakes on all late model Porsches. Plastic bags, dirt, and debris can clog up the clean airflow to the radiators for your engine and air conditioning. Tony checks and cleans the intakes on every watercooled Porsche he services.

Cayenne Transsyberia commemorates rally wins

will be offered in four different color options - black and orange will be the raciest. The less than subtle "Transsyberia" lettering will be optional on the $70,800 SUV.

When the Cayenne first came out, some hard core Porsche enthusiasts had mixed reactions to Porsche's SUV because it wasn't a traditional sports car with a racing pedigree, and for the first couple of years, from outside the factory walls it seemed there was no company interest in contesting events like the Baja 1000 or Paris Dakar that would be suited to an all-terrain Porsche. For those that haven't been paying attention, Porsche has entered slightly modified Cayennes in the Transsyberia Rally - a two-week, 4,400 mile race

that traverses Russia, Siberia, and Mongolia and won it three years running.
To commemorate the achievement, a new race inspired Cayenne S Transsyberia will be offered as a 2010 model with a naturally aspirated 405 horsepower 4.8 liter V8 taken out of the Cayenne GTS. A Tiptronic 6-speed transmission combined with a 4.11:1 final drive ratio will be standard, along with air suspension, skid plates, an engine bay guard, a lockable rear differential and Porsche Active Suspension Management.
