| Alex Ho has been interested in Porsches for as long as he can remember. "Twenty some years ago my first car was a 1979 Porsche 924. I didn't even know how to drive a stick shift." Currently Alex owns a 1987 944 Turbo and a new 2007 997 S. He recently sold his 2000 Boxter S and he also has an order in on a new GT3. Alex discovered Heyer performance about four years ago, and trusts Heyer Performance exclusively for maintenance.
"Tony knows me. I don't drive my cars as much as I used to - I used to drive a lot, but I enjoy having my cars in the garage, and looking at them." Of the Porsches, he drives the new 997 the most. The 1987 944 Turbo has a sentimental connection to the old 924, and that's the one that Tony has spent the most time with. "I don't drive it much, and it tends to set for long periods of time. It's good to know Tony, as things seem to randomly break on it when it hasn't been driven in a long time. Tony tells me I need to drive it more."
"I wouldn't call myself a fan of performance exhausts, but I really like that exhaust button on the dash of the new 997. You can open the secondary pipes and have more of that classic Porsche tone, like the old 911's." When asked if he's up for making modifications to the new 997, Alex is pretty sure he'll keep it stock and just drive it until he gets his next one. Besides being on the GT3 waiting list and trying to turn that into an RS model, he'd also like to

find a clean 1987-1989 Carrera with the 3.2 liter engine. "I think it's the best of the classic look and the aircooled sound. I'd have Tony tune the suspension to make it a little more modern.
When asked about what keeps him coming back to Heyer Performance, (aside from his underused 944 Turbo) "Tony is straightforward. He'll tell you honestly what you need to fix, and what you can do later or get by without doing and still enjoy the car. On top of that, Tony charges a fair price, no marking things up and down or trying to upsell me on more work everytime I pick up my car. With some other shops it can be a game of them wanting to do more work on things you aren't ready to deal with immediately - that's why I like Tony. I can trust leaving the car with him and knowing that the work will be done."
Alex found out about Heyer Performance through personal recommendations from other Heyer Performance customers, and he keeps the word of mouth campaign alive. "I recommend Tony to everybody I talk to in person and online about Porsches, and for pre-purchase inspections . So far everybody has given good feedback and Heyer Performance the thumbs up." Alex also mentioned that he sold his Boxter by mentioning to Tony that he was interested in selling, Tony found a buyer by making a couple of calls and the car changed hands without ever placing an advertisement or hassling with tire kickers. | |
