I'm Sure There'll Be More To This Story

As Tony drug the 924 with locked rear brakes from it's resting spot of 14 years, and it slid down the steep driveway into the tow vehicle, the happy ex-owner called out, "I'm sure there'll be more to this story." Tony rescued the 924 from a good customer who also has a 930 and 911 Carrera and realized they weren't going to get around to resurrecting the 924. They parked it under a cover when their third Porsche arrived. Surprisingly, the 924 suffered no damage from the downhill fender bender, but the truck on the other end suffered a bent bumper. The car itself was fairly low mileage, and straight. Back at the shop, it was apparent that the 924 had been taken over as a giant habitrail for several furry creatures. The plan was to donate the car to some

friends who were looking to build an inexpensive racecar for an event called the 24 Hours of Lemons, but their effort took a turn in another direction. In the meantime, Tony cleared the engine compartment of three garbage cans full of fur, twigs, and for lack of a better term - rats nests. The little buddies had eaten the cam belt, plug wires, and generally snacked on most things that weren't bolted down. One jumped ship and stowed away in Tony's own 911. "I opened the door, and it shot out of the car. I chased it around the garage until I had it cornered behind an ironing board. I kicked the ironing board, which swung the metal leg directly into my knee like a Road Runner cartoon, and I swear that rat was laughing." Tony said.

Thinking that furry fun was over, he lifted the hood on the 924 the next day, and the nests returned with all new foliage. Another customer expressed interest in the car for his 16 year-old, so he unstuck the brakes and began to get the fuel system back into shape. Just before he was ready to slip a new belt on it and try to fire it up, the teenager decided to pass. The resilient little rat was still living above the driveshaft, and had resisted all efforts to evict him from his Porsche. With no charity cases left, Tony delivered the rat, and his 924 to Parts Heaven for recycling. Perhaps the little guy will trade up to a 928 at the junkyard.
