The Dirt on Lifetime Air Filters


Installing a high performance lifetime air filter in your Porsche can marginally increase performance - but a million-mile warranty doesn't mean you can write off dealing with the air filter for the balance of the car's life.	K&N recommends checking their filters after 50,000 miles. This filter full of dirt and feathers mounted in a Boxster covered 50,000 miles, and looks like it might be a decent place to start a miniature farming operation.

Tony recommends having the filter inspected and cleaned on a more regular schedule - 20,000 miles is a good interval. Cleaning requires low pressure rinsing of the filter with cool water, drying the filter properly and re-oiling the element.
